After ten days of mourning and marking the end of a momentous 70-year reign, the Queen was finally laid to rest at St George’s Chapel on Monday. The funeral, which drew more than 26 million viewers in the UK, was attended by members of the royal family, leaders from across the globe and even celebrities like Sandra Oh.
While much of the coverage focused on the late monarch’s final journey from Westminster Abbey to Windsor, eagle-eyed fans praised Prince George and Princess Charlotte’s “immaculate” appearance as they joined their parents in procession behind the Queen’s coffin, and cameras captured the sweet moment Charlotte reminded her brother he needed to bow as the coffin passed them.
Those attending Nensi Dojaka’s show walked over a white petal-strewn floor to reach their seats, and Halpern’s opening look was presented in silence. Meanwhile, Richard Quinn – the only designer whose show the Queen attended during her reign – sent a procession of models down the runway in all-black outfits, topped with veils and crystal embellished crowns.
Things might feel different, but the Queen was always a fan of keeping calm and carrying on.
