I would like to talk about marriage and hell yes! I would discuss it like an African woman but an advanced African woman with intellect, an African woman with the mindset of growth and development of her generation.
You know, I don't have a problem with marriage at all; I have a problem with mindsets towards it, I have a problem with your thoughts about it and the way it is handled and the greatest of all I have a problem with the stress we attached to it and my duty as a married woman!!.
This part of the world seems not understand my being, I am not saying marriage is bad or that I won't get into it but I swear I won't venture into a business I am not ready to get committed in. A marriage I so much desire is a marriage that for the first few years I would enjoy the companion of my husband; planning, building, executing goals, having fun, traveling and getting to understand being together, in a nutshell i mean no kids for the few years but hell no! Family and society won't just leave us alone!
Now ehn as a woman I am more scared . I mean no matter how supportive my husband is I still have to carry the cross of womanhood. The fact that I have to wake up early to prepare breakfast, get ready for work, deal with house chores, ante-natal, injections and pills during pregnancy,the cravings I mean I know how malaria can give me mad cravings so how much more pregnancy?, waking at 2am to my baby's cry for either food or attention, satisfying my man, preparing my kids for school...in fact the need is endless.
So y'all think all this is easy abi? Biko go ahead I mean there is no late coming in marriage.
So no matter what y'all all say what I will keep saying is I won't get into marriage if I know I won't be able to handle it without wanting to run. So before you judge me or tell me to think like an African woman, sit down and try to think like me maybe you will understand my plight of being an advanced African woman.
