It was an unforgettable 2 hours of one of the finest moments in African Hip-hop last Thursday as Kevinwords claimed the throne in an all - acapella final round, impressing the judges including YCEE who joined Hennessy VS Class Radio show as the guest Judge on the Beat 99.9 FM.
Kevinwords battled Dee Wayne 'bar for bar' in the last round of the night and knocked the latter out with a clear margin.
After a split into two groups, The show began with Mapha and Emmzy E going head to head in 45 seconds each but Kevinwords and Dee Wayne topped the Group A while Veron and K.O. repped for Group B. Kevinwords went on into a face off with K.O where he had an impressive performance knocking K.O. in both rounds - with and without the beat. In the other group, Veron's brave act of taking on his rival Dee Wayne on his pre-selected beat gave the round away to Dee Wayne after the former choked, stuttered and struggled to finish.
Dee Wayne and Kevinwords had a final faceoff as they went on to the finishing, round and for the first time in the competition, they battled their way to the top by free-styling only acapella. It was a lyrical feast.
Kevinwords emerged as the listener's pick with the Twitter poll edging in his favor at an aggregate of 70-30% and every of the judges agreed that he rocked the mic best. He now joins the other finalists - Full Effex, Gochi and Zade.
Its the final week of the nightly lyrical stand-off today (Thursday) where the last set of rappers must prove themselves worthy for the final spot. The guest judge for this week is arguably one of Nigeria's best rappers, Alaga Ibile, Reminisce.
