ASUU-UI Might Commence A One-Week Warning Strike | See Reason!

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Ibadan chapter, might commence a one-week warning strike, depending on the outcome of tomorrow’s Congress of the Union.

This was disclosed in a document signed by Dr. Olamakinde Olapegba, the Secretary of ASUU, University of Ibadan.

According to the document titled ‘National Visitation and Notice of Congress’, the National Executive Committee of ASUU met in Modibo Adamawa University, Yola from 25-26th of March and one of the issues considered during meeting, was the consideration of ASUU UI branch to go on a proposed one week strike.

A delegation was setup by the NEC to meet with the Vice Chancellor of the University, as well as the ASUU Congress.

The Congress has been scheduled to hold tomorrow, April 4, at the University of Ibadan.

The one week warning strike has been proposed to address the issues of “illegal 7.5% pension deduction, payment of PG supervision allowance, salary arrears, credible and transparent staff audit, shortfalls in salary and IGR profile”. It should be remembered that THE PAGE had earlier reported that the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities,SSANU, of the same University just suspended their indefinite strike and resumed work today.
