THE Lift above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) has stated that institutions within its system disbursed loans in the sum of N140.4 billon to owners of micro and small business owners especially women who form the larger part of its 2.9 million customers spread across 30 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
The executive director of LAPO, Sabina Idowu-Osehobo, represented by the LAPO Area Inspector, Ibadan region, Miss Osaretin Osarenmwiuda, made this known during the 2017 celebration of the International Women’s Day themed, ‘women as pacesetters in national development’ by the organization in Ibadan.

Idowu-Osehobo called on women across the country to take bold and pragmatic steps within their sphere of influence to accelerate gender parity to build a better world where men and women live harmoniously, free of violence and discrimination, adding that the overall development of women is a major concern to LAPO.

According to her about three million women had benefitted from LAPO activities and the organization has played a huge role in community health improvement, playing major role in addressing the challenges of malaria, maternal and child health issues.
“As an organization, LAPO is passionate about women and their overall development,” she said.
