Oyo state signs bill prohibiting violence against women

The Oyo state government, on Tuesday, signed into law a bill prohibiting violence against women in the state.The State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Seun Abimbola; Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi; and Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Musah Abdulwasil, were present during the signing into law of the bill to Prohibit Violence Against Women in Public and Private Life, at the Governor’s Office, Ibadan.
This development has been praised by people of the state. Prior to this development, governor Ajimobi has been under fire following his comments to protesting students of LAUTECH. The governor reportedly lost his cool and threatened the students while speaking to them over institution’s closure for over 8 months.
