ENTERTAINMENT: (Ibadan) Adewale Agbaje writes open letter |@paulalasiri

The Ibadan Entertainment Industry have come out to stand as one prior to the government notice to start collecting permit on shows.
On this note, Adewale Agbaje has come out to frown at this recent development.
Read a letter he wrote to the entertainment industry below
I write this with the utmost sense of responsibility and humility.
The entertainment industry is quite a misunderstood one and it is understandable that
once in a while things will occur that practitioners will find worrisome.
I am glad that the Government chose to clarify issues through the office of the Special
Adviser, Communication & Strategy.
This proves a few things,
1. The government paid attention
2. We were accorded respect deserved
3. The Government is responsive.
Even though in my personal opinion, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information goofed in putting out that announcement without due consultation. I believe the time is right to seize the opportunity this presents to tackle our myriad of issues in a civil manner that is fitting for us as individuals and as an industry.
Having noted these, it was brought to my notice and I have been inundated with calls and
messages about a letter addressed to the Government raising issues about a concert held last year.
I will address this once to clarify certain issues and separate rumour from fact.
The concert was conceived, funded and executed by professionals.
Decisions were taken in a committee fashion.
Most importantly, the issues raised last year about indigenous participation have been laid to rest as we had a line up that reflected the best the music industry had to offer in Ibadan.
It was one of a kind and quite insightful for those of us on the organising committee.
Events might have overtaken this particular concert but I find it irksome when we choose
to distort fact/history for pecuniary gain.
I am grateful to all who have shown concern and I hope this concert matter can be laid to
rest finally.
The unity shown in the last 24 hours and the results gotten so far prove all that some of us
have dedicated our time and resources to. That Ibadan is viable and the entertainment
industry can accelerate growth through unity.
God bless all entertainment stakeholders
God bless the Government of Oyo State
Agbaje, Adewale 1
