The forensic audit carried out on the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) by the accounting firm PriceWaterHouse Coopers has revealed that the NNPC was guilty of not remitting certain funds to the Federal Government.
The report indicted the NNPC and asked it to remit a minimum of $1.48 billion.
The forensic audit was ordered after former central bank governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi alleged that $20 billion
was unremitted by the NNPC.
In line with the recommendation of the report, the Minister of Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke has ordered the NNPC to defray the outstanding $1.48 billion.
The report therefore clears the NNPC of the allegations of non-remittance of $20
billion.
